Call for Papers

We are very pleased to present the special issue of The International Journal of Data Mining, Modelling and Management on “Evolutionary algorithms and related meta-heuristics”.

Evolutionary computation has become an essential tool for solving difficult and high-dimensional optimization and classification problems in a broad range of real data management and knowledge discovery problems. Evolutionary computation is associated with systems that use computational models of evolutionary processes (i.e. based to some degree on the evolution of biological life in the natural world) as the key elements in design and implementation. A number of evolutionary computational and related meta-heuristics models have been proposed, including genetic algorithms, genetic programming, evolution strategies, evolutionary programming, learning classifier systems and other genetics-based machine learning, evolvable hardware, artificial life, adaptive behavior, ant colony optimization, swarm intelligence, etc.

Authors are invited to submit their original and unpublished work (theoretical and empirical contributions) in the areas of evolutionary and other related meta-heuristic algorithms approaches including (but not limited) to:

  • Distributed & Parallel computation
  • Representation & operators
  • Adaptation and tuning of the control parameters
  • Self- adaptation
  • Constraints handling with EC
  • Population dynamics analysis
  • Fitness landscape analysis
  • Hybrid algorithms
  • Real-world applications
  • Data Mining and Knowledge Discovery
  • Combinatorial & numerical optimization
  • Very high-dimensional optimization
  • Classifier systems
  • Industrial & engineering applications
  • Telecommunications & Networks
  • Scheduling & planning
  • Transportation and logistics
  • Dynamic & uncertain environments
  • Economic & Financial applications

Manuscripts must follow author guidelines for the journal specified in (http://www.inderscience.com/mapper.php?id=31) and must be submitted by email to laura.nunez@ie.edu or to hidalgo@fis.ucm.es indicating “Special Issue Evol Comp (IJDMMM)” by the closing date (November 15, 2010). All submitted papers will be double blind reviewed. Selection criteria will be based on relevance, originality, significance, impact, technical soundness and quality of the paper. Contributions are expected to provide original results, insights and experimental innovations.

Please contact us if you need further information  With best wishes,   Yours sincerely,   Laura Núñez Letamendia laura.nunez@ie.edu
